Last night I look my 14 year old in the eye & say,

“You know that alcohol & pot are absolutely NOT a choice at your age,”

But what I really mean to say is this~

“Now that you’re in highschool, you’ll begin the work of spinning apart all that we have created.

And while I’ll delight in the spreading of your wings,

I will miss you…

forever.”

New Olympic Event

presenting the school morning gauntlet~

within 5 minutes of coaxing kid out of bed, into clothes & down the stairs, he must pack up his lunch, load his backpack, return upstairs for his violin, & locate an impossible 3rd set of hat & gloves (because he’s left the others at school), all before gobbling up eggs, toast & apples as he runs down the hill to catch bus–without his mother raising her voice once…
